The southern alps region of Provence offers some of the best winter skiing
and snowboarding available in France.Pra Loup
Often considered one of the best ski and snowboard resorts in the Alps Pra Loup has an elevation of 2600m. 252 Snow cannons mean that good skiing is almost guaranteed and there are 53 ski lifts. Pra Loup offers 113 individual pistes and plenty of mountain inns nestled elegantly in beautiful larch forests perfect for a quick thaw in between runs.
Abries
With an elevation of 2,450m the ski season at Abries starts in December and runs through until the 1st of April. The Abries ski resort is situated in the Queyras regional park in the Haute-Alpes, Abries is perfect for intermediate skiers and has around 30 km of downhill skiing, 13 pistes, an average snow depth of around 1000 cm and is served by 5 chair lifts.
Les Orres
Situated in the Haute-Alpes Les Orres is a ski resort with approximately 88 km of ski runs and 34 of them are alpine ski runs. Les Orres has an elevation of 2,720 m and the ski season lasts from December through to April, there is off piste skiing and 23 chair lifts.
Mont Ventoux
Nicknamed the Giant of Provence Mont Ventoux is not quite part of the Alps but is the largest mountain in Provence and offers stunning and unique scenery, the season is good from December until the beginning of April. As it's name suggests the mountain can be very windy and in extreme weather the resort is closed for skiers.
