Nord
Pas de Calais is a region in the north of France which borders Belgium, it is
made up of two departments: Nord and Pas de Calais.Nord Pas de Calais is one of France's major industrial centres and one of the most populated regions of France. Although predominantly French speaking there are also two other languages spoken Flemish and Picard.
Nord Pas de Calais is highly accessible being just a short channel crossing from England either by ferry or via the channel tunnel to Calais.
Other towns include Dunkirk famous for the Battle of Dunkirk and Valenciennes known for it's lace making industry.
There is plenty for the visitor to do in Nord and Pas de Calais with a varied landscape of rolling hills, forests and pastures and towns for shopping and sightseeing. The area is also rich in history and culture and is famous for its food.
