Bordeaux is the perfect destination for a romantic short break, often known
as the 'Paris of the South' this beautiful city is the capital of fine wine and is
listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. There are a zillion things to see and do in Bordeaux from art and culture to exquisite shopping. A visit to the St Michael district and its famous flea market is a must or if romance is on your list try a behind the scenes tour of the Cadiot-Badie chocolate makers. This chocolatier was founded in 1826 and still makes its delicious chocolates by hand, Cadiot-Badie can be found at 26 allées de Tourny.
Not to be missed is the Esplanade des Quinconces a huge square with bronze fountains. After visiting the square take stroll along the Quai de la Douane a quay that runs along the Garonne river where there are charming cobbled alleyways, waterfront cafés and boat cruises.
Getting to Bordeaux
