It seems that President Nicolas Sarkozy has absolutely no sense of humour and has threatened to sue a French publishing company that has begun manufacturing a 'voodoo doll' fashioned in his image.

Sarkozy's lawyer Thierry Herzog told the French company K&B who have already produced 20,000 of the Sarkozy lookalikes that the president has "exclusive and absolute rights over his own image." He went on to say that they would sue unless the publishing company immediately ceased sales and production of the dolls.

The cloth dolls which are currently still on sale in French shops (if you want one buy it while you still can) cost around 12.95 euro and come complete with a set of 12 pins, a humorous biography of Mr Sarkozy and a full instruction manual.

Each doll is covered with famous Sarkozy quotes placed in strategic parts of the dolls body including the memorable "Get lost you pathetic ...." which Mr Sarkozy said to a bystander who refused to shake his hand at a farm show last year. On the dolls groin is the word 'Scum' which Sarkozy used to describe teenagers in some parts of Paris just before the 2005 riots.

There is also a second doll available fashioned in the likeness of Ségolène Royal Mr Sarkozy's rival during the presidential elections in 2007. Ms Royal's lawyer said that she is also considering legal action against K&B saying that the doll is an affront to her human dignity.
