British Man's Cannabis Farm in the Dordogne

Cannabis plantsA 40 year old British man from Nontron in the Dordogne region has been arrested for growing Cannabis plants on land adjacent to his property. Gendarmes from Limoges were carrying out an unrelated air reconnaissance of the area by helicopter when they spotted a 600 square metre clearing in woods near the small town of Augignac.

On the ground Gendarmes found that the clearing contained a large plantation of Cannabis and by chance managed to catch the 40 year old in the act of harvesting some of his crop.

Police also found a quantity of hydroponics growing equipment that looked as though it had been used for several years and a large heated greenhouse. Gendarmes have since destroyed the plantation and confiscated the equipment.

The man who has not been named has been placed in police custody and will appear before the courts in November, he denies trafficking the drug or growing the plants for commercial purposes, claiming that the Cannabis was for his own personal use only.
