Ban on Livestock Imports into France


Following the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the United Kingdom the European Commission has as a precautionary measure placed a ban on the import of livestock from the UK into Europe including France.

The EC has also prohibited the importation of meat and unpasteurised dairy products. They have announced that the bans will stay in place until the 25th August with a review of the situation on 23rd.

In France foot and mouth disease is known as fièvre aphteuse.
