Wealthy Russians Snap Up French Property


ChateauFrance is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Russian tourists, so much so that French diplomats working at the consulate in Moscow are unable to cope with the demand for Russian visa applications, last year 270 thousand visas were issued by the French Consulate to Russian people visiting France.

Prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 Russian people were not allowed to travel or holiday outside of the Union but now with freedom to travel and the current economic boom more and more Russians are choosing to holiday abroad.

Many are seeking something more permanent than the annual vacation and growing numbers wealthy Russians are snapping up French property in particular French Chateaux and other historic buildings.
