Forget Jaws but watch out for the crocs & Flipper

Beaches on the French side of the English Channel were closed to swimmers this week after several people reported seeing a large crocodile swimming around boats in the French port of Boulogne-sur-Mer.

Beaches were closed to protect the public while the French army, police and pompiers launched an intensive search for the 12 foot long beast and local zoos and animal centres were checked for escapees.

Eventually the hunt was called off after it was discovered that the killer reptile was in fact a large piece of driftwood floating in the current.

Earlier this week beaches along the French Riviera were closed amid fears that a shark was on the rampage, the 7 foot long creature was spotted by lifeguards during a routine patrol in their boat, the shark later turned out to be a dolphin.
