British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is facing a backlash after revealing
plans to sell off the port of Dover to the French. The historic port has long been seen as a bastion of Britain's freedom and seafaring history seeing off many invaders including the Germans and the French, it comes with a price tag in excess of £500 million and makes around £15 million a year in profit but is now seeking to expand its services and needs £400 million to do so.
Leading the bid is the Nord-pas-de-Calais regional council who are also the owners of the port of Calais.

... Personally I cannot see a problem with this plan. We have sold our electricity industry to the French par EDF. We are prepared to suborn our laws to the need of any minority group that can make enough noise. We are to prepared to be the ethnic minority in many towns in Britain. Perhaps when the current tenants are finished with it we could sell Buck House to the Americans. They already have control of our prime minister. |

... Well, given that the Brits have bought half of the Dordogne , a sizeable percentage of Brittany, and a fair whack of the prime real estate in the French Alps, it seems like the balance is still pretty favourable in our direction. Most of the above comments are knee-jerk reactions. |
