A party of British school children on holiday in France claim they were treated appallingly by French officials and told to go home after several of the children started to show the symptoms of swine flu (A/H1N1 virus).

The 14 year olds had just arrived at a chateau in Normandy on Saturday when several of the children began to feel unwell. On Sunday French officials arrived wearing protective clothing and cordoned of the chateau.

The children were forced to wear surgical masks while they were treated by health workers and on Monday were told to leave and given just 5 minutes to pack before being ordered on to a blacked out coach and driven back to Calais.

Since April this year there have been 793 recorded cases of the swine flu virus, although 19 patients have been admitted to hospital there have so far been no fatalities from the disease.
