If you are looking to Ski in the French Alps next season then Rail Europe have come up with an ideal stress free way of getting there.

The Rail Europe Snow train runs from both London St Pancras and Ebbsfleet International train stations and delivers skiers to four key ski areas in the French Alps: Les Trois Vallées, Paradiski, Mont Blanc and Espace Killy.

As the train winds its way to the French Alps it stops at six French stations, Chambéry, Albertville, Moûtiers, Aime la Plagne, Landry and Bourg St Maurice allowing easy connections on route.

Onboard the Snow trainOn board there is comfortable, flat-bed sleeping accommodation and housed in its own separate sound proofed carriage is the legendary all nighter Disco Carriage for those that want to party along the way - you can even bring your own drinks or visit the onboard bar.

If you don't speak French there is no need to worry as you'll also be accompanied by Rail Europe’s own bilingual travel supervisors, who will help at check-in, let you know before you reach your station stop, and are available throughout your journey.

The Snow train also has a spacious ski locker in which skiers can store their equipment free of charge.

Ski Train Update - Important News For 2010

Even though the snow train is hugely popular with skiers and snowboarders unfortunately it will not be running during the 2010 ski season.  All is not lost however as there are a couple of very good alternatives that will deliver you in comfort quickly and easily to the peaks.

Eurostar Direct Ski Train

There are two Eurostar Direct Ski trains that run weekly during the winter from London St Pancras or Ashford International stations direct to 3 stations in the French Alps: Moûtiers, Aime La Plagne and Bourg-St-Maurice.

Overnight service (Jan to Apr) - leaves the UK on a Friday night and arrives in the heart of the mountains early on a Saturday morning.

High-speed day service (Dec to Apr) - arrives in just 7 and a half hours, travelling throughout the day on a Saturday.

Eurostar plus a connecting TGV or overnight train

Take a Eurostar to Paris or Lille, then a connecting French day or overnight service to the heart of the mountains. Many high-speed day trains and overnight trains from Paris operate daily during the winter months.

Overnight services - offer reclining seats or flat-bed couchette accommodation for a more comfortable journey.

High-speed day services - many connect with regional trains to provide a comprehensive and flexible service to the Alps.
