Not sure if this would help anyone, but here't goes...
There's a 'lunch anglais' in Albi every Thursday, for a group of newcomers (mostly French) who want to practice their english. They're not so advanced that they can speak only english so it's still mixed... Native english speakers are invited to join us as guests. This may be just what some English need to sharpen their French also.
This is organized by AVF (accueil des villes francaises), sort of the local 'welcome wagon' for newcomers. They offer a wide variety of activities, and there's no better way to practice your french than doing things you enjoy with other French people. It's also a very useful network for practical matters, learning the in's and out's of French life. (There's one in nearly every city.)
