Good to be in FrancePosted by lesfragnes in wildlife , rural life , rabbits , living in France , eggs |
Today has been one of those days when it's just so good to be here. Why? Because little interesting things have happened that make our life in France fascinating. This morning I saw a badger. Not a big deal, but totally engrossing at the time. I looked out of the window to check on the llamas (babies due any moment now) and saw that all five females in their field and the three males in their field were all looking at the same thing. Llamas are very observant as well as being dead nosy, so if there's something going on, they'll spot it. I followed their gaze. It took me a while but suddenly I saw him - a huge, incredibly hairy badger, lumbering down the side of the male's fencing. I haven't seen a badger for years. I yelled to the rest of the family to come and see, but brock had headed back into the hedgerow by the time they arrived. Ruadhri was convinced I'd made it up in order to get him out of bed! The cynicism of an eight-year-old.
